POALAOF TSHIRT

The researcher for the book PORTRAIT OF A LEGEND AND OTHER FOLKS, the delightful Ms Tammy Beveridge, seen modelling a prototype version of the give-a-way POALAOF T-Shirt, somewhere in the backwoods of Pennsylvania.

There are no FREE lunches in the house my dear and the promotional gift that will be used in marketing PORTRAIT OF A LEGEND AND OTHER FOLKS which will be given away to promote this book is very simple.
It cannot be made any simpler.

THIS AFTERNOON

If you are planning to wear gunpowder rather than Johnson's baby powder, it might be a good idea to avoid airport security.
If you are planning to visit 'little Jamaica' in London....ooops, Brixton, south London, it is wise to visit Bickle...
s restuarant on Coldharbour Lane, where probably some of the best Jamaican food in the area is served.
This afternoon I met for the first time Mr Ron Vester for lunch and met a man who knows the history of Studio One inside out and forwards.
After the publication of PORTRAIT OF A LEGEND AND OTHER FOLKS, I will probably collaborate with Ron on his book about that famous record label.
Time will tell.

WHY RASTA NO WRITE ABOUT HIMSELF

THE TIME HAS COME FOR RASTA TO WRITE ABOUT HIMSELF.
PORTRAIT OF A LEGEND AND OTHER FOLKS.

Over a whole heap a time now
everyone write about Rasta
well Rasta no write about himself
so over a whole period a time
have to talk
an tell a lot a journalists
show them the right thing
an learn to read
who always read the wrong thing
And I say
we might as well try
see if we can really write some right things
that the people really can see
Jah come from the right source
more than come from what a man think
what a man think
you say
because InI say something
you know
an you don’t understand it
an you write it
you can read it
an you read it
an you can understand it
you dig

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.

Today is January 15, 2013. Dr. Martin Luther King's Birthday. On January 21, 2013 is the WORLDWIDE CELEBRATION FOR DR. KING.

I encourage all to commit to this in remembrance of Dr. King. Print off copies for your family, friends and neighbors. Pass them out to the stranger you pass in the street. Dr. King's message is for the community of the world. January 21 has been set aside for the world to remember Dr. King. Come to the mountaintop and make his dream our dream.

I HEREBY PLEDGE MYSELF—MY PERSON AND BODY—TO THE NON...VIOLENT MOVEMENT. THEREFORE I WILL KEEP THE FOLLOWING TEN COMMANDMENTS.*

1. MEDITATE daily on the teachings and life of Jesus.
2. REMEMBER always that the nonviolent movement in Birmingham seeks justice and reconciliation—not victory.
3. WALK and TALK in the manner of love, for God is love.
4. PRAY daily to be used by God in order that all men might be free.
5. SACRIFICE personal wishes in order that all men might be free.
6. OBSERVE with both friend and foe the ordinary rules of courtesy.
7. SEEK to perform regular service for others and for that world.
8. REFRAIN from the violence of fist, tongue, or heart.
9. STRIVE to be in good spiritual and bodily health.
10. FOLLOW the directions of the movement and of the captain on a demonstration.

I sign this pledge, having seriously considered what I do and with the determination and will to persevere.

I can see buckra a come
Lock-step to start a fray
Coming with them chains and munitions
But I don’t feel no way

Mash them down again

I can hear the missiles a hum
But Jah Jah a the conqueror
At Palmares, Addis Ababa

Pass their grace on to you

The one Hannibal, Nefertiti
All a them refuse to fall

All of them are part a me

But Natty a the conqueror
For our fathers, foremothers
None of them a bangarang

I can hear the mountains calling

Love you, Papa, love you, Mama
